Lesson#11
Lesson 11: Belief and the Mind
Lets take a moment to explore what a belief is. A belief is something which you do not know for certain. When you know something, then you no longer believe it, it is a fact. When you believe something, it is because you think, for whatever reasons, that it is true.
When you know something, you have experienced it, verified it for yourself. Most beliefs cannot be verified. Beliefs are often only strong opinions. They may be based on experience, research, or whatever, but in the end, they only fill in the gaps of what we do know.
Now, the nature of knowledge is actually kind of tricky. We never really experience anything directly. When we see, we are not seeing the object, but the light reflecting off of it. The light enters our eyes, and is translated into electronic impulses. These are registered and interpreted by our brain.
This is how all physical senses work. Nerves are stimulated by smell (chemicals in the air), taste (chemicals in the food), sound (vibration in the air) or touch (physical contact). When stimulated, these nerves send signals to the brain, which interprets the signal, processes it, synthesizes it, and responds through either active or passive means (either does something, or ignores the stimuli).
All of our experiences are based on this. Because of this, when we think about an event, to our mind, it is as if we are in the event. This is why your body will respond the same to you thinking about a stressful situation as if you were in that situation. Your body believes that it is. The way you deal with such situations is also dependant on your beliefs.
The Power of Disbelief: What you believe in is just as powerful over you as what you do not believe in. We always talk about the power of belief, faith, trust, but never seem to address the potent influence of disbelief. We are as much what we think we are as we are what we think we are not.
Simply put, if you do not believe in something strongly enough, then even when presented with it, you will ignore it, explain it away, or just deny that it is there. Disbelief, or the belief against something, has as much influence over your actions as belief does.
Brainwashing: Belief is the main component of brainwashing. When your beliefs are strong enough, you will often cease questioning on that topic. When brainwashing, or beliefs are pervasive enough in your mind, then you may even stop questioning all together. Your perceptions of the world within you and around you will be filtered through and controlled by those beliefs. It is by these potent methods that organizations manage to gain and keep control of people.
Belief is the cornerstone of manipulation. Group beliefs are often self-reinforcing.
I am not saying that belief is a bad thing. Just that we must be careful with it, because it is so easy to abuse, and so effective at manipulating.
Wisdom: The cornerstone of understanding is questioning. If you never ask questions, you will never understand anything. Understanding is the first step towards wisdom. True wisdom is understanding (knowledge, first hand experience) applied with compassion (a desire to help, based on love).
Being critical of what information you absorb is a great way to gain understanding, and eventually wisdom. Accept nothing you did not experience as true until you have thoroughly reviewed it. Even your own experiences should be questioned.
If you are not questioning these teachings, you are wasting your time with them.
I do hope that you are not simply accepting what is written here as truth, but rather are doing your own research and comparing it to your personal experiences.
I will take this one step farther and ask that you analyze all of your beliefs, disbeliefs, experiences, thoughts, &c…
Hypnotism: I am not going to go into a great deal of depth here, as there are plenty of sites that cover this topic.
Basically, hypnotism is where you put yourself into an altered state of awareness, such as alpha (review Lesson 7), to gain access to your subconscious mind. From here, you can work on reprogramming your belief system most effectively.
This can be done with or without the help of an other person. No hypnotist has ever put anyone else under a trance. The person being hypnotized does all the actual work.
No one can hypnotize you against your will either. I encourage you to do some research into hypnosis.
Practical exercise: The order give an example of a hypnotic chant, both in print, and on an audio tape. It did not seem very effective to me. You can try it for yourself if you like.
Cast a circle, and stand in the center. Light a white candle and do your power chants. Repeat each word 13 times before going on to the next. The mantra is “I am a child of the Creator. Everything is possible to me.”
Repeat each word 13 times like so:
I I I I I I I I I I I I I
AM AM AM AM AM AM AM AM….
A A A A A A…..
And so on…
Instant Relaxation Ritual: This is just a longer version of the relaxation method you learned back in Lesson 1.
First off, relaxation will assist you in developing spiritually, psychically, and magically. It help the energy to flow, and gives you greater control of mind and body. It is also good for your health. Many diseases are caused by or aggravated by stress. Relaxation is an effective way of dealing with stress.
Now, in the course material, there is a long visualization given, which you are told to read onto a tape, and playback to yourself while relaxing. I am not going to retype this. You can find one yourself online, or just make up a relaxing scene if you like. The details do not matter, what is important is that it relaxes you.
You want to get as comfortable as possible, and follow the directions for relaxation in Lesson 1. You don’t need the candle or anything, but do the relaxation part. As you are laying down, breathing, count backwards from 10, 15, or 20. One number per breath. If you are using a relaxing visualization, do it now.
Next, go through your body and relax each part. While in relaxation, tell yourself that you can relax at anytime, anyplace, just by breathing deeply and saying to your self “Relax, relax now.”
I like to breath in on the “Relax” and breath out on “relax now.”
Now you are ready to come out of the relaxed state, by reversing the counting process. Count from 1 to what ever number you started with.
You may need to repeat the ritual a few times before you can relax anywhere. I would recommend doing it once a week for three weeks.
Take as much time for it as you feel you need to fully relax.
You also want the environment you are doing this in to be as relaxed as possible. Your clothing should be loose and relaxed. You can play some soothing music in the background if you like, but I would recommend quiet.
Also, a sensation of heaviness is normal when you enter a state of deep relaxation. I often feel like I cannot move, and when I come out of it, I have to will my body to start moving again.
Relaxing the mind: Now that you have learned to relax the body, lets work on the mind/emotions.
Take a few minutes to breath deep and relax. Visualize your day in your mind. Remember what emotional ups and downs you have had. When you feel an emotional stimulation like anger or fear from one of these images or memories, take a few minutes to work with it. Relive it in your mind, and relax into it. Continue to breath deep as you do this. Realize that it is over, and that everything is ok. Work through it until you no longer feel the emotional attachment to the memory. You may need to vent some emotional energy physically while doing this, and that is good to. Let it out! Then return to your breathing, and work with the memory until it no longer arouses any feelings in you.
Writing about these events often helps too (you can burn the paper, or erase the file after you get them out). The important thing is to get them out, so they cannot control you.
Repressed emotions become our master. Be mindful of your feelings, and work through them so they can’t control you.
The mind shield: We each have a mental shield up, which we call the mind shield. It protects us from the psychic world around us. It also insulates our thoughts from others. I do not know how much I believe in telepathy. In theory it should be possible, but I have never done it effectively. So, I will leave it to you to decide if it is real or not.
I have noticed, however, that when I visualize my mind shield lowering, that my psychic and magickal powers work better. I visualize a light surrounding my brain, and label it my mind shield. I visualize it opening up, top to bottom, do what I need to, and then visualize it closing again. You can use whatever method you like.
The rainbow trance has the same effect.
On a similar note, I often use this with the visualization of my thoughts being a series of laser beams of different colors. When I lower the mind shield, I focus all the beams into one powerful beam and direct it at my goal.
These visualizations should not be taken literally, as they are just symbolic of what is happening at a deeper level.
Emotion: Emotions are divided into two categories by the Order. I agree with this, and a friend of mine, who has been doing transcendental meditation (one of my two teachers in that discipline) for decades says that they are “Love” and “Fear.” The Order labels them as emotions which leave you relaxed (good emotions/love) and those that leave you tense (bad emotions/fear). The Order calls the tense ones “hate.” I prefer “Love/Fear” as fear is usually the root of hate.
To figure out which is which, just ask yourself how an emotion makes you feel. Do you feel relaxed and good? Do you feel tense or worn-out by it?
Take time to explore your emotions, as they are the driving force which make magick work.
The Order also offers an emotion control chart. This chart shows what colors correspond to what emotions. Just surround yourself with the color (clothing, candles, food, visualizations ..) of the color of the opposite emotion which you are dealing with. Color Chart LINK
If you want to increase an emotion, work with its color.
I have never used this chart, so I don’t know how well it works, but hey, it sounds good in theory.
More chants: Here are some more power chants. I am not going to go into much detail with them. I have used some of them, but the chants in Lesson 4 seem to work the best.
These chants work with the chants from Lesson 4 to increase your power. I do not know where they came from, or what they actually mean, if anything.
Try repeating them different numbers of time (1,3,4,7,9) and see what works best for you. I usually do them in 3 sets of 4, making a total repetition of 12 times.
Ful-tien-winter
Tida-And-Nu-Thissa
Him-From-Afaran-Het
Nam-yo-Fara-On-Coe-Naw-Me-I-Mah
Hoy-O-Eee-Om
There is also a lecture on what the chants mean in Lemurian at this point in the course. Basically, it explains how the sounds mean things in Lemurian, like “M” means travel or sending. It moves energy. As I think the whole Lemurian thing is made up, I am not going to bother to retype it.
The rest of the lesson focuses on giving chants for specific purposes. It is like a mini-spell book. I have a great disdain for spell books, as the best spells are written by you, not someone else.
I will post a few examples, but I have not seen where these chants work better than any other chant, non-sense or otherwise. If you would like more info on them, e-mail me, and I will send you specific chants if you need them, but I would rather you make it up on your own.
Weight loss chant: Use any day of the week to help you or someone else loose weight. Think of the person who is the target, you or the other person, and chant 81 times or chant for 9 minutes.
Lava-Mange
Sik-Lava
For Protection: Repeat 5 times while casting a circle of protection.
God-Cweeth-Eak-Swilch
Removing a hex: This one works to break any kind of spell. Curses (which are rare, 99.99% of all curses are self inflicted), or spells which you have cast and no longer want. If you need to break a spell of any kind, this formula works.
Put on a purple robe (or large T-shirt).
Bless and charge a purple (silver is ok, but purple is best), and place it in an iron pot (you can use a holder or drip wax inside the pot and place the candle in it). Light the candle, and burn some purple incense (the spell calls for grape wood which they sold. What I usually use is the stems from grapes, dried and ground up. You can add some purple food coloring if you like, but I don’t. You will have to burn this on charcoal). These chants work best on Saturday, but use them when you need them. The waning moon is works too.

Blessing an object: This one is to purify and bless an object. I have used in many times, and like it. Wear white, anoint a white candle with patchouli oil, light it and burn sandalwood incense. Touch the object with your right forefinger while chanting.
Mistra-Daga-Eelchy-Oph-His-Ferd (spelt Mistra Daga Eelchy Othe His Fierd if you want to write or carve it).
There are many more chants given, but I think you get the idea.
