Lesson 3: Feeling Your Power
Practice Schedule: Cross of Power and Protection as needed , always before magickal and meditative work. Meditation as needed, you still want to do this at least once a week. Candle meditations should be done several times a week to develop your focus and visualisation skills. Doing meditation before bed can also promote sound sleep and aid in the bodies natural healing process. Opening the hand an head chakras should also be done several times a week to develop your energy channels and prepare you for subsequent lessons.
Learning to feel your power: The power or energy field that permeates and surrounds the body can be developed. Cultures and spiritual traditions the world over have a belief in it, from the western aura, Chinese qi, Japanese ki, Hawaiian mana, Indian prana, German odd, northeast American Indian orenda and so on. In the Order it is called axa power which is your innate God power.
It emanates from your soul (spark of the Divine within you), from your body (electromagnetic energy), is absorbed from your food, and from the air. It is in all things and we absorb and radiate this power all the time. It is used for all the metaphysical abilities like healing, divination, casting spells and so forth.
Contrary to common belief there is only one power. It manifests and is perceived in different ways, but it is all the same, from the radiation of the Sun to the light of the Divine center of the Universe. The belief in the different kinds of power comes from the many different systems of using and developing it. Basically there are two main divisions in how to apply the power. First is low magick which uses herbs and simple rituals to effect potent changes. This is the easiest place to start learning as the techniques are hands on and very easy to learn. They may be simple but are very effective. High magick tends to be more complicated, more so in the beginning as we must often distract ourselves in order to access the natural Divine power with in. High magick is most common in ceremonial traditions as opposed to the folk traditions of low magick and often employs complex and often confusing systems of correspondence. Conjuring spirits, astrology, tarot, and traversing the inner and outer planes fall in the realm of high magick. Both have an internal logic that works once understood, low magick tends to be more hands on and practical where as high magick tends to be more mental and theoretical. In the end they both use the same power and go to the same place, often crossing paths and blurring the seemingly clear cut lines dividing them. Yoga and Qigong are two eastern traditions which employ high magick in there training. They use physical and meditative techniques to develop the psychic centers of the body. These systems first focus on healing and purifying the physical body, then the energetic system, training and freeing the mind and finally liberating the soul so that direct communion with the Divine Creative power can be achieved.
The truth is that there is only one power that emanates from this Divine Creative force. It is altered in frequency and vibration as it moves through all things in existence. It is because of the flow of this energy and its effects on us that we must learn to use magickal timing, at least in the beginning of our training. As time progresses and you advance in the training you will reach a level where such things will no longer have control, as you will be in control if you fully realise your Divine nature. This does take many years, sometimes several lifetimes, but it is why we are here anyway so the time it takes doesn't really mater. As you work towards unlocking your inherent God powers you will no longer need tools and other such trappings. For now you must learn to use them, as these tools trigger changes in your deep mind, not to mention that they are part of the fun of working magick. All systems of magick, the occult, and religions are like pieces of a puzzle. They all have a core truth that seems to blend and support the others. Often on tradition will be very strong in one area and weak in others. By learning from them you can piece together more and more of the truth, unlocking that truth from within. All of the differences in practices, tools and beliefs are meant to expose us to more and more of the Divine Creative forces manifestations. Celebrate diversity and you are celebrating true Divinity!
Magick often seems hit and miss, especially in the beginning. This is because it takes time and training to get the required practice in to develop your power level. When you have increased your power to a certain level than all the things that hold you in place in consensus reality will no longer hold sway over you. That is why these spiritual development exercise are taught early in the training by the Order.
You should also know that there have been many people through out history that have believed they could gain power and do as they please harming others and oppressing people. They wield negative energy, the dark side as it is sometimes called. But like in the popular Star Wars movies, they always end up causing their own destruction. The negative energy burns up your innate Divine power leaving them drained, and reaping the returns of there path by becoming nothing but empty darkness. On the same note, pacts with "demons" or any other entities which may promise you power, wealth or any other thing. They work by draining your life force and using that to do your will, if they work at all. They of course take a cut for themselves, which leaves you eventually powerless and at there mercy. This short sighted approach to gaining power is very foolish and not as effective. You cannot gain anything from sources outside your self. The power is within, not without, and if you do not find it within you will not get it from outside your self. There is unlimited power and abundance in the universe, and it is there for the asking, once you become ready inside your self for it. Spiritual development increases the Divine power within. The dark path, while effective in the beginning, or at least seemingly so, will do nothing more than drain you leaving you like the evil emperor, tiered and miserable. What you send out returns to you, like vibrations attract like. It is as simple as that!
Now that you have some understanding of how the power works, I will now show you how to test and understand your natural rhythms. Begin by making a chart that has one column for the time, one column for each day of the week, and one column for the date. You may also want to note Moon phase. Divide each of the day columns into strong and weak. Test your power as shown below as often as possible for one month. Test it several times a day if you can, and record it on this chart.
To test your powers hold your left hand out in front of you straight up and down, and hold your right hand perpendicular to it. Slowly move it up and down. You will feel a sensation, if it is strong, record it as strong, if not, record it as weak. You may also want to try holding your hands a few inches apart out in front of you. Move them closer and farther apart. You should feel a sensation like a magnetic field pushing them apart. This will also help develop your hand chakras.
After a week or so, begin to focus on the top of your head as you breath deeply. After a few moments try the above exercises, you should notice a difference. You may also want to test your energy level before and after meditation. Be sure breath deeply as you do so. After you have learned the power chants in lesson four you should test your power before and after doing the chants. This testing need only go on for a month or two. After that you can test your powers periodical, but it will not be important once you become proficient at the power chants as this will raise your power quickly.
Making the Triangle of Manifestation: This device will help you to focus power. It is not necessary to work magick, but it helps. You can make it from thick black poster board, but it is best to use 3/8 inch thick hardwood plywood if you can. Cut an 18 inch square, and divide it vertically in half, 9 inches. Measure 1/4 inch from the bottom and 1/4 inch in at the sides drawing lines there with a pencil. Place a second line 2 1/2 inches in on each side and a second horizontal line 2 inches from the bottom. Draw an horizontal line 13 1/4 inches from the bottom and another above it at 14 7/8 inches from the bottom. Connect the intersections of the 1 1/4 inch and 1 1/8 to the intersection of the 14 7/8 line at the half way vertical line to form the outer triangle. Connect the intersection of the 2 inch and 2 1/2 inch line with the 13 1/4 and halfway vertical line to form the inner triangle. Paint the inner triangle a high gloss black and the outer triangle white. You may want to base coat the whole thing white and draw a black line to form the outer triangle and black out the inner triangle. Put a thin coat of polyurethane or other sealant on it when the paint has dried, sand it lightly with high grain paper, and coat it again. Repeat the sanding and coating a few times to get a nice smooth surface. While painting you can use masking tape to keep the colours from overlapping, and be sure to let the white dry before you apply the black. Follow all safety and usage guide lines on the paint.
Assemble every thing you need for your circle, as when you consecrated your robe, and a small vile of olive oil as in the candle magick. Set up your alter as in lesson 2 placing the triangle of manifestation in the center. Cleanse the triangle as you did your robe and anoint it with a small amount of the oil, charged with the blue light as you do the incense and salt water. It is now ready to use.
Cleansing Ritual for Exorcism: Cast a circle as in lesson #2. When you come to the salt water, place the container of water on the triangle. Draw a banishing pentagram over it beginning in the lower right hand corner,up to the top, down to the right, up to the left, across to the right, then back down to the left. As you do so fill the water with the blue energy. Pick up the salt and do the same thing. Add three pinches of salt to the water with it still sitting on the triangle. Remove the holy water from the triangle and place the incense on it. Perform the same procedure on it. Remove the incense and light it or place a small amount on the lit charcoal. Use what ever words seem appropriate to you for the cleansing. Sprinkle some holy water on yourself and sprinkle the ritual area as in lesson #2. This method may be used to cleanse a room, home or any other area by simply omitting the circle casting. Walk through the area, clockwise, to be cleansed sprinkling the holy water, then with the smoldering incense, again clockwise. You may want to make additional passes with a lit candle, ringing a bell, or chanting to remove the negative vibration. Use any words which feel right to you.
