Lesson #5
Lesson #5: Psalms & Postures
Book of Psalms: The book of Psalms from the Bible is based on ancient spell prayers and is still to some degree valid to use in magick. Relax, do the cross of power and protection, relax and do the power chants in lesson #4. You may wish to cast a circle. Prepare an appropriate candle and say the verse that goes with the prayer spell. Finish by visualising the desired outcome, as in mental magick, and open the circle of you cast one. Use the rule of three when using these spells, repeat them on the correct days or nights three, six or nine times. You may also do them nightly for three, six, nine, twelve, fifteen, eighteen, or twenty-one times. You should also carve the correct spirit name on the candle. You may wish to do this in Hebrew or Greek script, but that is not necessary. On the last night of the ritual let the candle burn out completely, it is best to have a metal candle holder for this, and you may want to leave it some where that it won't catch anything on fire if it falls over, or where the wax will harm anything. You may also want to burn some incense.
I am not sure about the spirit names, you may use them as is or use my alterations/corrections.
To Heal Various Illnesses
Headaches: Anoint a blue candle to attract (lesson #2) and inscribe the spirit name of Adon (I believe this is supposed to be ADNI or Adoni which means lord in Hebrew.) Use Psalm 3, 1-8.
To heal any eye malady: Anoint a blue candle to attract and inscribe the spirit name of Jaschajah (YHShVH or yeshuh? Which means Joshuah, and is the correct spelling of Jesus. The Greek S and E look a lot like and in Hebrew there are no true vowels so H and E are interchangeable thus YHShVH in Hebrew- IHSVH or IESUE in Greek- in to IESUS as a mistranslation in to Latin. This gives us JESUS in English as I=J when going from Latin to English.) Use Psalm 6, 1-10.
General health improvement: Anoint a blue candle to attract and inscribe the spirit name of Eheja Aischu eheje (Maybe AHYA AShR AHYA or Ehia Asher Ehia I am that which I am, or Existence is existence.) Use Psalm 9, 1-18.
To bring down a fever: Anoint a blue candle to attract and inscribe the name of Schaddei (ShDAI, Shaddai) and use Psalm 49, 1-20 and Psalm 50, 1-23.
To help cure shaking of the limbs: Anoint a blue candle and inscribe Aleph (The Hebrew "A") using Psalm 119, 1-8.
To gain relief from pain in the upper body: Anoint a blue candle to attract and inscribe the spirit name Cheth (Hebrew letter "Ch), use Psalm 119, 57-64.
Money and prosperity
To acquire good luck:Anoint a green candle to attract and inscribe the spirit name of Jiheve (YHVH? The tetregrammaton. Y= fire, H= water, V= air, and H= earth.) using Psalm 4, 1-8.
To acquire a raise, job promotion or successful transfer: Anoint a purple candle to attract and inscribe it with Samech (Hebrew letter "S"). Psalm 119, 113-120.
For a prosperous business: Anoint a green candle to attract and inscribe the spirit name Aha (no idea) using Psalm 114, 1-8.
To help win a legal matter in a court of law: Anoint a purple candle to attract and inscribe it with the spirit name Lamed (Hebrew letter "L") using Psalm 119. 89-96.
To get your way in any business transaction or deal: Anoint a green candle and inscribe Rechmial (again no clue) using Psalm 8. 1-9.
To recieve help in finding a job: Anoint a green candle to attract and inscribe Jod (Hebrew letter "Y" , Yod.), use Psalm 119, 76-77.
Protection
To remove an hex, curse or misfortune brought on by your enemies: Anoint a purple candle to banish and inscribe the name Eel-Elijon (AL ALYON?), use Psalm 7. 1-17.
To defeat unknown enemies: Anoint a purple candle to banish and inscribe Jah (YA, a name of God) using Psalm 100, 1-5.
To banish an evil spirit:Anoint a purple candle to banish and inscribe Eel-Mez (AL MZ?) using Psalm 10, 1-18.
For home protection: Anoint a purple candle to attract and inscribe Schaddei (ShDY), use Psalm 90, 1-17.
to defeat a known enemy: Anoint a purple candle to banish and inscribe the spirit name of Eel (AL or El, meaning God in Hebrew), use Psalm 109, 1-31. You may also write the name of the person on a piece of parchment paper and encircle it with the verse from this Psalm that best fits there crime against you, in dragons blood ink. Verse 6 is a catch all, if no better one is found. Place the parchment in a bottle of vinegar on your alter. Recite the verse for seven nights. On the last night dig a hole and place a black stone at the bottom. With all your might throw the bottle into the hole saying "Black, black, black, send the evil back." I do not recommend this practice, and must warn you that if the harm was not 100 percent intentional on there part, or if it is just imaginary, the spell will rebound on you, causing you to be the target of the power released. This spell verges on an outright curse, and I have only presented it here for the sake of completeness.
For safety when traveling: Anoint a purple candle to attract and inscribe Nun (Hebrew letter "N".) Use Psalm 119, 105-112.
to protect yourself during a time of war: Anoint a purple candle to attract and inscribe Jah (Yah) using Psalm 60, 1-12.
To protect yourself against possession by an evil spirit: Anoint a purple candle to banish and inscribe the spirit name of Paltioel ( another mystery to me) and use Psalm 59, 1-17. You can also write verse 11-15 on parchment paper in dragons blood ink and on the other side the name of your enemy. Place this under a black candle. Again, this is a curse, and I advise against using it!
To have love and friendship
To cause a separated couple to reunite: Anoint a red candle to attract and then inscribe the spirit name Adojah (ADYH) using Psalm 45, 1-17 and Psalm 46, 1-11. Oh boy, interfering with an other's freewill and meddling in others relationships while a common practice always leads to trouble! It also, karmicly, opens your relationships up to meddling. Think about that before you cast this spell. Best to have the couple do this together to find a way to work it out.
To repair a broken friendship: Anoint a pink candle to attract and inscribe He (Hebrew letter "H") using Psalm 28, 1-9. Again, sometimes things that have ended are best left alone. Bending others to your will has a way of backfiring in strange and unpredictable ways.
to attract love and friendship: Anoint a pink candle to attract with olive oil to which you have added a pinch of cinnamon and some red food colouring. Write Psalm 138, 1-8 on some parchment paper with a red ink and enclose it by drawing a heart shape around the Psalm. Place the candle on it and burn it for 21 nights. You can also sleep with the paper under your pillow each night. You can also light the candle each morning. Anoint the paper with the oil and say a silent prayer to have love and friendship come your way. Carry the paper in your wallet or purse. Remember not to direct this at any specific person, as love spells like that are the worst curse.
Please know that I do not, nor have I ever used the Psalm magick. It simply does not interest me.
Basic Yoga and Qigong
Why Yoga or Qigong?: Yoga and Qigong (Chinese internal exercises, literally "breath or energy work"), help you to develop physically, mentally and energetically. Deep breathing, stretching, stillness, and slow deliberate motions open the energy channels, prepare the body for powerful energy flows, aids in healing and develops your focus. There is a lot of information available on both Yoga and Qigong. As I will not be delving into these fully here, I recommend reading Judith Anodeas Chakra Balancing, and Ken Cohens The Essential Qigong Training Course, available through Soundstrue. Judith Anodeas book Wheels of Life, and The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity by Daniel P.Ried are excellent sources as well.
Basic stretches: Begin in a standing position, feet shoulder width apart. Breath deep and relax. Stretch up, slowly raising your arms above your head. Reach as far as you can, feet flat on the floor and stretch. Hold for a moment, and exhale as your arms slowly float down to your sides. Bend your knees and begin twisting at the waist, body relaxed. Let your arms flop back and forth as you twist gently left and right. After at least six repetitions hold your arms out to your sides, like in the star position but with both palms down. Bend at the waist, and touch your palm to the ground as the other reaches for the sky. Hold for one to ten breaths, and slowly come back up. Repeat on the other side. Do three to ten repetitions. That is some basic Qigong. Now on to some very basic Yoga. Sit on the floor, spine straight, and extend one leg out. Keep your toes up and bring the other foot to touch your thigh, after you get good at this one you can put your foot on your thigh. Slowly breath out and reach down your extended leg. Hold for one minute. Do the same on the other side. You may repeat this three times. Now, put your feet soles together and gently press your knees to the ground, keeping your back straight. Exhale and lean forward trying to touch your head to your feet. This is the butterfly stretch. Hold for one minute. Now, extend both feet straight out, toes up and slide your hands down your legs to your toes as your exhale. Hold for one minute and repeat three times. Lay down flat on your back and breath deep and relax for a moment, then stand up and shake out your arms and legs. The whole routine, once memorized can be done in ten minutes, or extended out to thirty minutes depending on how many repetitions you perform.
After a few weeks, or maybe a few months depending on how often you do them, you can try the more advanced meditation postures. Dragon pose, also known as Japanese sit, fold your legs under you, tops of your feet to the ground placing the big toe of your right toe on top of your left. Set your hands, palms down, on your thighs. Keep your spine straight. The Lotus pose, you may do this one at first sitting on a small pillow or folded towel. Sit keeping your back straight, pull your left foot up on top of your right thigh, pull your right foot up between your left shin and left thigh, knees both totally bent. Both postures can be used for prolonged meditation. At first they can cause discomfort, but just relax into it and it will pass. You may also find that your legs fall asleep the first few times you use these poses, this is normal and will pass with practice. You can alleviate some of the pain by gently bending forward, then twisting left and right when you first assume the meditation postures. These positions facilitate energy flow and when used, they can give the feeling of having no body.
